Health & Safety
PLEASE BE ADVISED OF THE FOLLOWING FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AT BINGLEY ST IVES GOLF CLUB
LIGHTNING & FOG
In the event of an electrical storm you must stop play and take appropriate action. (Rule 6-8a applies) The shelters on the course do not provide adequate protection from lightening. Do not commence your round or continue to play in fog or poor visibility conditions where you are unable to see the clear distance of your intended shot.
GREENS STAFF
Greens staff have priority on the course at all times. Players should always alert greens staff who are nearby or ahead of them when they are about to take a shot which might endanger them and wait for them to move out of range before the shot is taken..
PUBLIC FOOTPATHS
There are numerous public footpaths within the St Ives Estate. Some run alongside the course and one actually crosses the 18th hole on the course. Priority must be given to members of the public using these paths and players must not take shots until the footpaths in range are clear.
BUGGIES
To ensure the safety of all course users buggy drivers are required to take care at all times when using buggies on the course particularly when on slopes and around deep sided bunkers or ditches
THE COURSE – STEPS AND SURFACES
The course may be slippery when damp or wet. Players must wear appropriate footwear to accommodate the prevailing conditions. Wherever possible keep to the footpaths and steps. Extra care should be taken on steep banks and when entering or exiting steep sided bunkers. Members should not play in advance of the first tee time of the day as the course is closed until the first tee time. Until the course is open members are not covered by the Club insurance.
PONDS AND DEEP WATER
There are several ponds and water hazards on the course – specifically on the 9th, 10th and 12th holes. Players are advised not to attempt to retrieve golf balls from these ponds/water hazards. Players entering ponds or water hazards do so entirely at their own risk.
FIRST AID:
Assistance is available in the Clubhouse or the Pro Shop if required
Players are advised to carry a mobile phone (muted) with them on the course to summon assistance in an emergency. Ring 999 for an ambulance and advise that ambulance access to the Clubhouse is via the gate by the Pro Shop or alternatively use the officials’ car park. Ambulance access to the course itself is via the public footpath crossing the 18th hole, through the greenkeepers area and out onto the 2nd fairway. The Club has a defibrillator which is located on the ground floor of the Clubhouse.
Assistance is available in the Clubhouse.
ALL ACCIDENTS MUST BE REPORTED TO THE GENERAL MANAGER
PLAYERS ARE ALSO REMINDED OF THE NEED TO SHOUT “FORE!” IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE FULL RANGE OF ANY WAYWARD SHOT ONTO ADJACENT FAIRWAYS
Players should not play a shot until the players in front are out of range.
Players should ensure that no one is standing in such close proximity to themor in a position likely to be hit by a club, the ball or any stones, pebbles, twigs or the like when taking their practice swing or their shot.
If a player plays a ball in a direction where there is a danger of hitting someone they should immediately shout a warning – the customary word of warning in such situations is “FORE!”
